Food waste in France

You throw away a meal every week. Without even seeing it.

Not laziness. Not over-buying. We just forget what's at the back of the fridge. Naranza fixes that in three steps: 2-second scan, alert before the expiry date, recipe matched to your stock.

Everything you need for zero waste

Built for real fridges, not for catalog kitchens.

2-second scan

Barcode or grocery receipt photo: your inventory fills itself. Products recognised via Open Food Facts.

The alert that saves the date

A single non-intrusive notification per day. Naranza groups everything expiring this week — a summary, at the right moment.

"What's for dinner?" — solved

Recipes filtered by what's already in your fridge. Each recipe compares its ingredients to your stock.

Savings counter

See in real time what you're saving from the bin: in euros, in kilos, in CO₂ impact.

Family-mode fridge

The whole house sees the same inventory in real time. Shared shopping list, mutualised alerts. No more duplicates.

Eat in season, pay less

Calendar of French seasonal fruit & veg, auto-updated. Better for your budget, your health, and the planet.

As simple as scan, alert, cook.

Scan your products

Point the camera at the barcode. Naranza recognises the product, you enter the expiry date, and it lands in your inventory.

Get the alert

Before things expire, Naranza sends a grouped digest with everything to use this week. No intrusive notifications — a summary, at the right moment.

Cook the right recipe

Naranza suggests zero-waste recipes matched to what you have. You cook, you enjoy, you save. Zero effort, zero waste.

The app I wish I had.

I was sick of throwing food out. Sick of finding mouldy yoghurts behind the pickles. Sick of grocery lists on Notes that never get used. Sick of apps that try to coach me like an Olympic athlete when I just want to finish what's in my fridge.

Naranza is the app I built for myself first. A smiling orange that tells me when a product is reaching the end, and what to do with it. No anxiety-inducing notifications. No gamification disguised as help. Just the right info at the right moment.

I'm building it solo, in private beta for now. If you want to try it, the TestFlight link is above. If you have feedback, let's talk.

— The maker of Naranza

Naranzo, Naranza's mascot

Naranzo

A smiling orange. That's it. No gamification, no anxiety-inducing notifications, no coach passing judgement — just a quiet presence that alerts you when a product is reaching its end, and suggests what to do with it.

Free now. Free later.

Naranza is in free beta via TestFlight. At public launch, the core app will stay 100% free — no ads, no paywall on the essentials.

An optional Naranza+ plan will be added later for those who want to go further: detailed savings stats, auto-generated weekly menus, unlimited households, receipt scanning. But it will always be optional.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know before you scan your first yogurt.

Is Naranza free?
Yes. Naranza is currently in private free beta via TestFlight. The app will stay 100% free at public launch. Later, an optional premium plan Naranza+ will be offered (detailed stats, auto menus, unlimited households) — always ad-free, with no paywall on the essentials.
Is Naranza iOS-only?
For now, yes. Naranza is available only on iPhone (iOS 16+). An Android version is in development with no firm date yet — we'd rather not over-promise.
How do I join the TestFlight beta?
Tap "Join the beta". You'll be redirected to TestFlight, Apple's official app for beta testing. Install it if you don't have it yet, then accept the Naranza invitation: the app installs like any other. It's free, no commitment, and you can leave the beta any time from TestFlight.
Is my food data private?
Absolutely. Your data stays on your device and is never sold. Naranza only collects what you explicitly give it access to (scanned products, expiry dates), and you can permanently delete everything from the settings at any time. Fully GDPR-compliant.
Does Naranza work offline?
The vast majority of features work offline: viewing your inventory, seeing alerts, accessing already-loaded recipes. Scanning new products and household sync need an occasional internet connection.
How does product scanning work?
Naranza uses Open Food Facts, the largest collaborative food-product database (3M+ references). The app instantly recognises a product from its barcode and pulls its name, brand, and nutritional info. You then enter the expiry date.
